Areas of application
Crane magnets are used in industry and logistics to lift and move heavy metal loads safely and efficiently. The magnet is placed gently on the metal part and adjusted. The magnetic force can then be manually activated using the lever on the side. The crane magnet therefore works independently of electricity and eliminates the risk of the load dropping in the event of a power failure. After transportation, the metal part is set down and the holding force is switched off again using the lever.
- Industry and manufacturing: In manufacturing companies or workshops, crane magnets are used to lift and transport large metal plates, steel girders, pipes or coils. In shipbuilding, they can be used to safely lift and position large and bulky metal structures, such as steel plates or ship components. In warehouses, crane magnets are used to stack metal goods in a space-saving way or to prepare them for shipment.
- Recycling plants: crane magnets make it easier to collect and sort scrap materials such as scrap metal or steel scrap. They can efficiently separate metal from mixed materials. They can be used flexibly and anywhere on the premises because they do not require a power supply.
Function and design of crane magnets
Crane magnets with permanent magnets use a permanent magnetic core that generates a constant magnetic field without an external power supply. This ensures that metallic loads are held securely without the need for a continuous energy supply. This magnetic field is transferred to the ferrous parts via the pole surfaces on the underside. This is achieved by the positioning of the magnetic core:
- Idle state / deactivated:
In the idle state, the magnet core is turned so that it is not connected to the pole shoes and the magnetic field is not transferred to them. Therefore, the lower holding surface is not magnetic in the idle state and allows precise positioning of the crane magnet. - Activated:
After operating the lever, the permanent magnet inside is turned in such a way that the magnetic field is transmitted to the lower pole surfaces. They are therefore immediately magnetic in this state and hold iron parts reliably. When the lever is operated again, the magnet core is turned again and the connection to the pole shoes is interrupted. The lower holding surface is no longer magnetic with immediate effect and releases the workpiece.
