Areas of application
The block magnetic catch is a locking mechanism that uses a magnet and a counter plate to hold doors and flaps securely closed without locking them. Simply approaching the door closes it, and a short pull is all that is needed to open it. The required counter plate is included in the scope of delivery and must be mounted precisely on the opposite side so that the magnet can develop its full holding power.
- Furniture construction: Magnetic catches are installed in cabinet doors and drawers to prevent unwanted opening and to ensure a convenient, automatic closing mechanism. The magnetic force is strong enough to ensure that the closing function is performed by the attraction itself, when the catch approaches the counterplate. Even when exposed to vibrations or shocks, the flap remains closed; it can only be opened by a deliberate, small jolt.
- Caravan and boat building: magnetic catches are used a lot in caravan and boat building to keep cabinets and flaps closed while driving or at sea. The magnetic force prevents unintentional opening caused by movement and vibration.
